Labor paraded around coal towns during the election promising coal miners a “just transition” and replacement jobs because of the transition to net-zero. Just a few months into their government, BHP has announced the closure of their Mount Arthur coal mine with 2000 miners to lose their jobs.

Instead of finding them the replacement jobs they promised, the government is washing their hands of the closure and saying it has nothing to do with them despite the fact they put their net-zero target into law. It just goes to show, they’ll tell you anything to get elected and then say “not our job” once they get in.

Boo to Labor on this count. Lying & going back on election promises is completely without integrity. Thank you, Senator Roberts, for holding them to task

I suggest that with retraining thermal coal miner’s can be retrained within the sa.w companies eg BHP and Glencore to instead mine the minerals eg rare earths, copper that are increasingly necessary to power the renewables transition

As a minister of climate change in 2001, Wong got in early. They decided to change ‘global warming’ to ‘climate change’ because they couldn’t prove the average global surface temperature was rising after all. They must have made that name change before 2001. Anyway, we can ask her, she seems to be in the know regarding future global planning. That aside, Wong doesn’t seem to be very concerned for our labourers or our energy needs today or the next 27 years. Actually, she sounds like she’s in even deeper than the 2030 folks. 2050? Is she introducing the fact that the blurbs about 2030 will soon be changing to 2050? How deep in is she? Shall the workers just wait until 2050? Is she or is she not representing the Australian Labour party? Doesn’t their name represent our labourers? Or has that name unofficially changed as well, perhaps from Labour to Global Folks?
