Fish says, what is the best way to apply pressure to our local representatives? Call them.
First of all, go to their office and say you want a meeting with your representative. You want a meeting with your representative.
Here we go. Identify where he or she is. Google it. Members. Put in your postcode. Find the MP, click on the MP, go down and get the number. There you have the number. You’ll also have the address of their electorate office. And you’ll have their email. Emails are almost useless.
This is the hierarchy I use. I recommend and I’ve done it myself. Visit their office, knock on their door and say you want a meeting. It shows real commitment from you and real strength from you that you’re turning up in person. Demand a meeting. Be polite, but be firm. They’ll give you excuses as to why the member can’t meet with you. Don’t put up with it. Do it again a second time. Leave your name, give your contact details, you want a meeting.
The second best way is to call them and demand a conversation. Just request it all very respectfully. And then the third one is write a letter, a paper-based letter signed. It doesn’t have to be typed, just has to be neatly written or typed, signed with a handwritten signature. put in the post and sent and if you really have something that you want evidence they’ve received it, put it registered post. It’ll cost a few dollars but that’s what I used to do. I’ve written thousands of these letters in paper and some some people have told me how much they appreciated my letters and some people tell me how much they didn’t appreciate my letters, but turning up is the best way.
Thankyou Malcolm for your advice on how we can make a contribution to the political scene, by contacting our representatives directly.
I will make a effort in doing so, as I have growing concern to where our representatives is taking our Country in their decision making.
Keep up the great work, your a shining light in such a bleak political landscape we currently have here in Australia.
Regards,
Jarrod.
In all honesty Malcolm, that does not work.
1. The first cop out is that “they can’t get involved”.
2. They very quickly tell you to come to ‘the next gathering’ they have arranged.
It is impossible to inform an elected MP of facts. They just are not interested.
We even submitted a submission to the Senate Enquiry into Family Court, to have it ignored. The Family Court is another example of a court that allows dishonesty, fraud, police used by a conflict of interest, lies by the mother to be hidden. Not all men murder women. But the #me too (women) are in control and ram laws thru that do so much harm to men & fathers, and grandparents.
Submission into QPS Internal Discipline Process, achieved nothing! Later, much later I realize why. Solicitor was paid by QPS even tho all officers pay into Union. The union looks after every thug officer when it is against public. But when it is “pay back” Commissioned officer against an officer the Commissioned Officer is looked after by The Union, and the officer is hung out to dry. He would have been better off not using the Union Solicitor and paying for an independent solicitor. Carroll moves onto Commissioner, what happens to young officer? He is the only looser. The solicitor gets his wage from both sides. Is it any wonder police services Australia wide are screaming out for officers? People who are honest are the loosers, because they don’t know the way ‘the system’ works and trust what the lying beurocrats tell us. We have limited funds to fight. We live with the results of the way the system has let us down. This must cause mental health issues.
Good point Ros. Sad but true. I think the only way to change an MP preconceived ideas is to have a lot of people talk/visit them about the same issue. They’ll have to wake up and at least consider it. Anyway, thank you Malcolm for your leadership. Take heart and courage guys, Jesus is coming back soon!
