Right now, all baseload power is forced to immediately switch off when wind and solar unpredictably turn on. This isn't how baseload power stations like coal are built to work - they're meant to keep spinning consistently which is why they're called baseload. Flicking them on and off causes extreme damage, more expensive maintenance and in some cases, power stations literally blowing up. With one simple rule change, One Nation would guarantee baseload power the minimum amount they need to keep spinning and drastically cut down their costs instead of being forced completely off when wind and solar unpredictably turn on. AGL who runs coal fired power stations stated that the coal they use to make electricity is costing $21 a megawatt hour. In the last quarter the wholesale price for electricity in "wind and solar capital" South Australia was $200 a megawatt hour. With this simple rule change, your power bills would go down by at least 20%.
