they also cost $700 to get tested and the same mob selling them is the one testing if the test comes back no issues your paying the $700 as if they are going to say there own equipment is faulty this is a huge scam

I had the "smart" part removed from my meter. And they tried to charge me $118 to do it. Push back or get pushed over.

the home i rent has no solar it will not be fitted due to the asbestos roof yet i can not opt out and they will not leave the original meters in place... this tells me even more that its a scam as i have no need for them and i can not keep the old meters

Plus there is debate on the radiation they emit. I've seen pictures of a smart meter on the outside of a house with a small pine type tree next to it. The half of the tree next to the smart meter is dead while the half on the other side of the tree is still green. Scary stuff.

They can control smart meters. That’s what it’s all about.

Domestic Customers NEVER had these issues when the utilities and power generators were publicly owned. The Networks were built properly and maintained such to keep pace with community demand. Our bills in that era usually had a Use Tariff and an Off-peak Tariff, that was it, no Network Charges or other add ons. The Utilities and Power Generators didn't have share holders and didn't have to make a profit. Our Governments, starting with that Geoff Kennet mungral, sold off OUR Electricity Networks, Privatised them and left us holding the bag. Frankly, these people need to be held to account for what they have done and the Government needs to get them back. They weren't theirs to sell in the first place.

Seriously, Smart Meters are just a scam. They really need to be jammed where the sun doesn't shine.

Smart meters are controlling households , air-conditioning etc , they can turn off your air-conditioning and your unable to use it...grrrr... Don't want my Smart meter....it's about control...nothing more, don't forget they want to control everyone

It is my property and I have got a smart meter put in without even telling me can I get it removed or do I just take it to with a  hammer? 

Why should Families, Mums & Dads need to understand the electricity market just to put the lights on at home, cook for their kids and heat the house when it's cold. It's just wrong on every level.

They're just enforcing more control mechanisms to keep everyone in line. They shouldn't be mandatory to have everyone should be given an option to have a smart meter. Many people I know that now have smart meters have said their quarterly bills increased by up to 60% since being installed. Who's benefiting from that, sure as hell not the consumer.

Also make the providers simplify their bills and plans , the plans equal the same, kw,daily charges and FIT are all over the shop , so how can they get away with charging different rates depending on which plan you go with All the providers are doing the same Also solar owners should get compensation once they new pricing comes in when we have to pay providers for exporting in NSW , it’s theft at the end of the day

So ... where I live we only have Ergon as a network ... but Ergon is also the retailer ... isn't this a conflict of interest ... and yes our power bill has gone up ever since the smart meter was installed that we were not notified about ... only told that there would be an outage that day and when we got home from work that day there was a new meter installed ... absolute scam

Well the power delivered to my place Is under 190 Volts And has burnt out a lot of electrical Motors But they recognise Nothing out of the ordinary here I had a company put a metre on I’m paying for 240 But 60% of the The time I’m only getting 190 They tested it With their metres I asked to see the results They told me I could not But they were happy with the result

TOU tariffs are the issue, not the meters. We have had them in Vic for years. Stick to your original tariff.

No surprises there, most of us know they're more about surveillance than saving any of us peasants money.

They’re not compulsory until 2030. So tell them to go away. By then this mess will be resolved.

You should be able to opt for the old manual read ones on your new builds or replacement meters
