Hardly surprising that parents want to home school. Especially with all the crap being taught today. Education needs to get back to the basics.

We homeschool and it's awesome. Much more flexibility.

We all know the problems exist. Parents are not in control nor do they play a part in their children's lives in this country. It's all extremists and terrorists running the show under a "democracy".

So, can we get back to Reading, Writing and Arithmetic by freeing up space in the curriculum with the removal of the woke nonsense? Parents (both) are working longer hours and harder than ever to make ends meet during a cost of living and housing crisis, which limits time spent assisting their children with education. They can't afford tutoring either by and large. Youth are being sabotaged by the education system.

I would home school if my kids started now. The education system is a disgrace. I would do a lot more things differently if I had the chance.

I know alot of home schooled children since 2020 they are so clever and well adjusted. Nothing like the brain dead , brainwashed and uneducated children from schools. They have discipline and respect for others which is no longer taught in schools.

Great work asking the question if the curriculum may have something to do with the home schooling increase. The curriculum seems to be left out of discussions or ignored when there is issues with education. You also should include the School refusal children numbers and ask the very same question. Is it the curriculum causing some of the increasing school refusal numbers. There is an estimate floating around that up to 5% of Australian children maybe suffering from school refusal. School refusal is something that is very poorly understood in Australia. I believe there maybe a precedent which suggests school refusal may have some association with education reforms.(this includes the curriculum). Japan has had problems with school refusal since about the 1980's. Some people suggest that the Japanese Education reforms back in the 80's and 90's may have triggered the school refusal phenomenon. School refusal numbers started to increase in Japan after these education reforms. Japan call school refusal “futoko” now. It was called tokokyohi' previously. Last fairly recent figure I've seen, Japan had about 200 000 children suffering from school refusal and the numbers are still on an increasing trend.

A teacher in my daughter's grade 2 class (2012) said to the students he could not control, "I don't care if you learn or not, I will still get paid at the end of the day!" Children naturally want to learn, but the way the system is set up, it is simply not conducive to maximising students' potential.

If both parents need to work with current economy I raise my hat to those that decided it was more important to home school their children. It wasn’t an easy decision, in fact for many it was one of the hardest decisions they ever made. Many sold their homes and went back to renting to do so. Other’s cancelled their holidays and/or a new car so they could survive on 1 income. One thing the pandemic did for many was to open our eyes. We survived being locked down - we found who are friends and/or family really were. We found our children are what’s important! For those who just didn’t have a choice, get involved with your school, be the fly on the wall so you know what your children are being taught! On weekends and holidays get your kids outside, teach them gardening skills. Or teach them how to cook, carpentry or even just how to give change. You would be surprised how many kids leave school and have no idea!

Good teachers with life experiences are very much the minority, the major majority have zero life experience at all. Why should society trust someone who claims to be a teacher yet the so called teacher has never left school, never lived in the real world, never had multiple different jobs and different experiences to pass on from having different jobs. They have been indoctrinated and had their heads filled with woke nonsense throughout their own education. Then we are expected to trust these people to teach our children. I don't see anything of value these so called teachers have to offer at all. And people still wonder why society is becoming brain dead. Look at who are teaching our children. Those that can't do teach.

As a proud ex military member, our country is becoming a disgrace. We are more focused on woke ideology and spend too much time pleasing the people at the top. Just need to get the best out of our children, without all the political bullshit. They don’t need to hear welcome to country before every class.

My son NEVER wanted to be in the matrix & wanted to be home-schooled. My two biggest regrets as a mother trusting Gvt with Big Pharma till he was age two & did NOT home-school.

Home Education needs more support. Tax breaks for families home educating etc.

We hone schooled our five to ensure they were not indoctrinated with Darwinism and sex. They have nine degrees and three post-graduate professional diplomas between them, and have stood firm against Wokeolatry.

More and more students have learning difficulties, for example non-verbal, ASD, dyslexia, dispraxia, ADHD, OCD, etc which can make it more difficult for students to learn numeracy and literacy.
