Andrew Clennell nails it on blackout risk and energy rationing today:
"It's ridiculous. It's Australia. It's summer. It gets hot. People use the air-con. We're not in India."

Why is the question coal fired power no problems green energy now a problem and has to expansive and high cost to maintain as well. Funny governments would not lie to us would they. Liberals signed us up to the Paris agreement which has hand cuffed Australias growth now and Labor that just spends billions. Joke. Not a mention of the new election bill that just went through Parliament which gives the major parties more money to use against smaller parties. Gives major parties and advantages over smaller ones which in my opinion it could be like rigging the election. Also the loopholes to use even more tax payers money. This bill straight under the table and voted through. Also no mention of the fuel reserves on and off shore Labor sold off and where's the money. Also no mention of the millions tax payers money gone to minority groups here in Australia linked to terrorists groups as well.
Sounds like another way to depopulate..Time for the Labor clowns to leave
We need more coal and gas
You can’t sell it all off and expect it to be reliable when commercial interests come into play.
Enough is enough
People use air conditioning, then they have to use more air conditioning, sitting inside behind a tv or at a desk or in air conditioned vehicle, is not conducive to ideal climate change in your own back yard, see what your car does to the ants and butterflies, and frogs and kangaroos, and insects and birds and turtles, they dont exist no more!
Every new house built has aircon.the green dream will fail.fact I’m buying a generator.
Mike Miller actually why were the black outs is the question. The load on transformer yards especially between Qld and NSW were the problem but one took 2 1/2 years to up grade due to money not being spent on maintenance not the power stations. Check if you want.
Blackouts first to hit is Canberra hottest pm along with black out Bowen albos feeling the heat 😒😒
Welcome to Australia.
Omg this is a disgrace to let our country go down this stupid road
That Tom is a W⚓️
Coal fire plants down but they are making new coal mines in Queensland they are lying to you and the media play along with it as you see in this video clip
Labor is clueless and driving Australia 🇦🇺 into the dark ages !!
Who's the peanut on his right
Whatever next?
Get rid of the clown on the left.
S U M M E R 🤦🏼♀️
Imagine having to do the dishes by hand. Oh my god. The drama 😂😂😂
Did any politician think about: Hospitals 🏥 how will they be affected by blackouts? Nursing Homes, how will they be affected by blackouts? Highrise buildings, how will they be affected by blackouts? What about Electric Cars 🚗, lol 😂 It is the proof, that old way is the BEST WAY. windmills are 💩 as is solar and Electric Cars 🚗
Ah The Club of Rome instructions reign supreme....
Blind Freddy can see what fools they are who keep pushing so called Renewables.
Thats why Queenslander homes were designed to let air flow & creat breezeways.Thats why houses were built with overhanging eaves. Thats why we have trees, they create breezeways. Thats why the rooves used to be terracotta tiles red, green, white or very light grey. Not so hot. Now houses are built with No eaves,No trees and everyone wants black or dark slate grey rooves because its trendy. Talk about dumbing down.
Conserve power ??? what about all the E cars gobbling up the power .. bring back Coal-fired stations .. Australia is far less polluting than China, India, and the US ..
Wake up Australia...this is turning into a Third World Country 😡😡😡 Time for a major sweep of Parliament...
Complete incompetence. ... See MoreSee Less
NSW and Queensland need to keep their power in their own states and not send to Victoria and south Australia.. if those states want to go gas and coal free let them.. but not at the expense of other states ..
I swear progressive and sustainable, mean backward and useless. The world isn’t going forward, it is reverting almost a century in achievement.
Australia has huge reserves of coal, gas, uranium , oil, water, we should not be in this situation . We should have abundant cheap power. Politicians have a lot to answer for.
Exactly. At what point do we loose 1st world status...
Every one should turn absolutely everything on & find the limits of our grid, then lobby to build & triple its output to safe guard & accommodate for growth..
Correct, get rid of the socialist Labor Govt who are running this country into the ground
That's because we're run by third world level bureaucrats - interested in whatever they can get from the taxpayer, rather than serve the taxpayer
If my power goes off, I can't do anything. All I have runs on power. Can't get water ( I have tank water need an electric pump to get to it) so, also no loo, no anything, I do save water, but for how long and how much?
Wait until everyone is forced to have the Smart meters. They will turn it off for you.
My elec bill is about to become $140 more expensive each quarter. Talk about getting bent over without lube. And no, it’s not my fault… I didn’t vote ‘Labour’, I know, it’s spelled Labor, but considering we’ll soon need to give our firstborn to the regime, I’ll call em Labour.
Reap what you sow, complete madness. Both major parties need to go.We need a movement like the USA to Make Australia Great Again
With the resources we have and a modest population, this can only be caused by gross mismanagement at all levels over many years by many administrations. There can be no excuses.
While I couldn't agree more, many citizens are living in conditions that are 3rd world. Right here, right now.
And yet I find it rather amusing that in China they do not have a power shortage problem. I wonder if China could let their buddy the Australian Prime Minister Ben elbow exactly how it works and reliable.
INCOMPETENCE OR DELIBERATE ? ….
Wont be easy under Albanese, he had it tough you know, no one else did only him
let me guess the seaside town of Copacabana will be exempt and will have extra diesel generators shipped in just in case
So Labor's plan is starting to unfold
Sorry to break it to,them but their choice to go green NOT OURS
Two step forwards. 100 steps back. We are going back to the dark ages.
If that isnt bad enough, remember, they are asking us to switch it off now,, but they intend to fit all homes with smart meters so THEY can switch it all off without Asking.
Most people knew this was possible. Highlight's once again the ludicrous decisions made, and continue to be made, by a government that refuses to work for the people that they're supposed to represent.
Coal fired power stations failing again!😱
Another fine mess thanks to Albo and his cronies!
No just a change of government!
BREAKING - Liberals to CAVE on Digital ID to access social media.
The government has circulated their amendments to the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Bill 2024 (the under-16 social media ban). There's a new section - 63DB(1) - which prohibits social media companies from collecting a Digital ID or government documents like driver's licenses or passports.
This is meant to be an assurance Peter Dutton's liberals have asked for in exchange for supporting for the bill.
But read on to 63DB(2), that prohibition on collecting passports or Digital ID doesn't apply if the social media company provides an alternative way to verify your age (without government issued ID or a Digital ID).
Huh?
This is circular. Social Media companies are banned from collecting government documents or Digital ID to verify age, unless they have a way to verify age without government documents or Digital ID, then they can collect identity documents and Digital IDs.
The end result:
With this exception, social media companies will be allowed to collect government issued identity documents and Digital IDs for the purposes of accessing social media.
Peter Dutton's Liberals and Nationals are still on track to support this bill which will allow for the collection of passports and Digital ID's to access social media.

Bottom line just pushing for digital id. It has nothing to do with prevention of children accessing social media. It's just another typical agenda driven to control. Seriously Australia take a good look at our politicians they do not have our back. They just cover their hidden agendas and make it look like they are protecting us when they are not. Just like the dumping of nuclear waste In Port adelaide which is already being dumped in largs bay in suburban area that no one has paid attention to.
Peter Dutton is not the one to run this country he is not any better than albo and his cronies we need a Donald Trump here to clean the swamp out
Big Brother and the ministry of truth would be so proud of the quislings in the conservatives
Now we should make sure every politician pushing this and MAD bill is voted to the unemployment queue. There is a petition circulating to have all 75 politicians that voted for the MAD bill removed from parliament.
Nothing to do with protecting children. And regardless that is the job of parents. If the govt really wanted to help they would provide tools and training to parents, not book access carte blanche.
Totally unworkable, teenagers will circumvent any restrictions
No difference between Labor and Liberal. I'll delete all my social media accounts.
Just got a demand from my bank to digitally verify... Had no clue the long standing contract I had with my bank changed in the last 30+years. Who are the money launder's again ill wait...
The political landscape in Australia is in a dire situation. None of the bills/legislation being shoved down our throats, MAD bill, Digital ID, Social media bans etc have ever been tested in an election. No party has stated these objectives in their campaigns simply because they would lose. If not at referendum, surely it is only fair and reasonable that the people get their opportunity to speak when such drastic measures are proposed??? Instead they have been slammed through parliament without any scrutiny, which really inspires trust…. This is a democracy, and if the social media companies are to blame then surely it is them that needs regulation and fines and not the people????? The cozy nature of Govt and big business has usurped the Govt/ People relationship and it is clear that we the people, are no longer being represented, but must stand up as individuals when such drastic measures are proposed. Now we are going to the polls but as far as the major parties go you have basically the same policies, colluding rather than giving the people an alternative. Very disappointed Peter Dutton and the Liberal Party has missed the opportunity to be the people’s choice and continues down the road to tyranny and oppression….. Simply not good enough and not what we deserve.
one nation all the way
Keep up the great work! LNPs need to wake up in a hurry, there is a quiet majority that are just waiting for someone to stand up for Australia....Didn't they see what just happened in America.
Gov wants to raise the next generation on state-approved information only.
Keep up the fight Senator, I lost a bit of faith in the lnp when they originally floated this nightmare. Good luck
Blackrock is really pushing this hard using their minions!
It is about control from labour.
We don’t have to produce ID to vote for the mafia government in Australian elections but we do have to produce ID to use social media. ( US & world tech companies )
Obviously, it is time to move away from technology and go back to our older ways. Newspapers, community meetings, talking face to face with neighbours, friends, co-workers and family. Hell, we may even have to start socialising so that we know what is going on. Seriously, it is time to stand up to government and demand our rights. Dutton has lost my vote, so PHON needs to get their act together and try being a third contender for us all to vote for.
We the ppl would like a referendum to decide what we want. The government works for us not the other way around.
I just pray that all Australians wake up to the control that governments want over our lives. They achieve their end goal by going through the back door under the guise of helping you. Wake up Australia and read between the lines.. There is no transparency in government now.
They can have my school report, from 1972😅
Pleeeease be true You guys are doing a great job Australia is a better place because of one nation
Australia is just being used as a trial country by the European elites.. This is all part of the UN agreement that our government has signed up to.. They serve the UN & not the Australian people.. they will keep pushing for this digital id & cashless currency to take away our freedoms.
It is utter BS, there is no way this can be 'policed' and as a result there will be no penalties if U16's do access social media. All about control. If this does come to pass then there will be no more social media for me (not under 16 but refuse to be part of this digital ID agenda)
Wonder what albojumbow gave them in return for thier vote 🗳.
Using social media is a choice like having an internet or mobile phone account
BREAKING: YouTube has suddenly banned me from uploading, posting or live streaming for two weeks
The reason given is dozens of videos, some more than 6 months old, that have only now been flagged as an issue.
This includes multiple videos calling for a COVID Royal Commission.
Thank you for meme, David
I co-signed the Digital ID Repeal Bill alongside Senators Antic, Babet, Canavan, Hanson and Rennick, which was introduced into the Senate earlier today.
