Put a 1%pa royalty on the finance industry on all loans. So all the 10 trillion in total loans in Australia pay 1%pa that is 100 billion. So banks charge 5%pa and forward 1%pa to government and banks keep the 4%pa. Then bump up resources royalties by 100 billion. Reduce government spending from 800 to 500 billion. That saves 500 billion per year into revenues. The current Trillion dollar government debt costs a billion a week in interest. This is crazy. Pay it off in 2 years. Pa means per annum. Any new Finance Venture like a new Australian Building Society would be grateful for the opportunity to operate a Fractional reserve lending venture with only having to pay 1% pa of loan size as royalty. 5%pa loan, the Lender keeps 4% and forwards 1% to government revenue. If this was done on all the current $10 trillion in existing loans in Australia it would generate $100 billion in revenues to run the country. Currently the Finance industry only pays $10 billion in tax and most of that gets claimed back in Franking credits to shareholders. The above explanation switches that to 100 billion per year.
